latest news: FAREWELL BLUES RECORD CENTRE AMSTERDAM

photo: last day June 26th 2010 blues friends and customers

In the near future Paul Duvivie - retired and formerly owner of Blues Record Cente Amsterdam - will start selling vinyl and Cd's from his private blues collection.  Other good news is coming from Tramp Records.  Most of their blues catalogue will still be available in the next decade. Supportive websites are being built at the moment.

- Suriname news facts month August (2010) -

- Sudden death of the president of the Central Bank of Suriname just before his retirement. Andre Telting did much to stabilize the Surinam economy and introduced the Surinam dollar.

-

- Nickerie district - less rice ( about 26000 ha) was seeded in this year compared to last year. Heavy rainfall , bad ( wet) roads and other infrastructural shortcomings are to blame. A Shortage of fertilizer has been reported.

-

- New Suriname president Bouterse is helding talks with officials and specialists to prioritize the policy of his new government backed by the Mega Combination and partners.

- Inauguration speach of President Bouterse makes clear that Suriname will develop best possible relations with South & Middle American countries. All in Suriname should benifit from this. France is an exemplary country of how to keep good relations with the EEC. Dutch companies and people will allways get a warm welcome, but the Dutch state should keep itself at a distance - the former colonizer should look in its own mirror.....

- Former President Venetiaan says he and his government gave Suriname better healthcare, education and infrastructure than ever before, this during tight government budget restraints. Less purchase power was the price people had to pay for this. These difficult choices and decisions had to be taken to save the state from bankruptcy.  It should not be forgotten that this policy paved the way for a better future for all - according to mr. Venetiaan
